I have lifelong complex physical disabilities which resulted in me requiring 24h care. I have lived independently for over 20 years within the community with a 24h support package. During this time I have used the services of care providers, agencies and employed my own staff directly. My dream and ambition have always been to reach my full potential, and I have aimed to utilise the opportunities given within independent living to enable me to achieve this. I’m a Lancaster University graduate within English literature and creative writing. My biggest long term goal is write and have my memoire published. Currently I deliver lectures for Universities across the North West within the Allied Health and Social Care department. I share my positive experiences of working with different health professionals over the years as well as the many challenges encountered due to the system trying to fit me into a box. I have now come to realise I do not fit in a box, I am my own person, I am HANNAH. I want to share my knowledge far and wide to bring about change and advocate for those that can’t. Although I am physically limited, I consider my voice to be my biggest asset.
