In Control trustee and team members awarded MBEs

In Control trustee Clenton Farquharson and Miro Griffiths, member of our Children’s Programme team have both been awarded MBEs in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

 

Clenton, who has been a trustee of In Control since April 2013, was awarded his MBE for services to disabled people and the community in the West Midlands. As well as being a trustee of In Control, Clenton is also co-chair of Think Local Act Personal’s Making it Real sub group and the National Co-production Advisory Group and a non-executive director of Healthwatch Birmingham and Community Navigator Services CIC. A large focus of Clenton’s work over the past 10 years has been working with people who experience inequalities and find themselves in vulnerable situations. Miro, who recently joined In Control as an associate supporting our Children’s Programme, received his OBE for services to people with disabilities. Miro runs his own consultancy – Miro Consultancy, which he founded in 2007. He is recognised for specialising and having a keen interest in disabled people’s empowerment and participation, transitional stages of a disabled person’s life and the independent living debate. Miro advises on various disability networks, is an experienced guest speaker and works as a consultant for local and national charities and organisations.
