One of our Stay Connected members, Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living, has won a national GSK IMPACT award. And another, Brent Mind is reporting the success of 'Nucleus' their mental health brokerage service.

Wiltshire CIL wins national award

More than 400 charities applied to be part of GSK's flagship UK community investment pogramme and Wiltshire CIL is only one of 10 winners and have been recognised as standing out in their approach  in meeting the needs of disabled people.

The GSK IMPACT awards, run in partnership with the King's Fund and now in their 17th year, are seen as a mark of achievement in the healthcare charity sector. In addition to the £30,000 Wiltshire CIL will receive in funding, winning organisations will also be able to access training, development and networking opportunities through a dedicated programme organised by the King's Fund.

Making self-directed support work people with mental health needs

Brent Mind launched the Nucleus project in November 2011 and since then the small team of three has been inundated with people using their service for one-to-one action planning, peer support, help with designing mental health trust recovery courses plus much more. The team has also been asked by more than 200 organisations to present on personalisation and self-directed support at conferences, workshops and events.
